When it comes to taking screenshots, Monosnap has a quick and straightforward solution for you. It lets you take snapshots of the screen or record it, place annotations on your screenshots, after which you can choose from several output options. You can highlight specific details in a screenshot or photo and share the image right away. The application is compatible with all popular Mac OS X and Windows versions and it is also available for iOS smartphones and tablets.

When launched, the application will place a new icon on the menu bar. This icon will reveal several snapshot options, as well as a recording option and others. Monosnap is capable of capturing the entire screen or a selected region, record the screen and you can also use it to take selfies with a webcam. It is also possible to load existing images, by dragging and dropping them over the menu bar icon.

Captured images or video footage will be loaded automatically on a clean and simple user interface. Once an image is loaded, you can place shapes, insert text or draw freely on the image, crop it and save it in JPG or PNG format. It is also possible to take additional screenshots and to place them on the same interface, next to the previous ones.

Besides saving images or videos in a local folder, a good alternative is to upload them. You can upload to a Monosnap online account, which can be created for free, to a custom FTP or SFTP server or to various cloud services, like Dropbox. Sharing contents directly through Facebook or Twitter are other possibilities.

Taking screenshots and sharing them can be done with nothing more than a few clicks when using Monosnap.

Pros

You can take screenshots, selfies and record the screen on the fly. The application lets you upload and share the captured contents. Monosnap is cross-platform and it is free.

Cons

You have to pay a fee if you wish to images or videos to Dropbox or other popular services.
